We are looking for a dynamic team leader to join our small team at our Care Centre located at Tuggerah. This is an exciting opportunity in a fun, supportive environment whilst recruitment occurs.  The Care Centre is a shelter outreach facility that includes an adoption centre, retail and a grooming service. Its main aims are to rehome more animals in a welfare friendly environment and educate the community about responsible pet ownership. 


This position reports to the Care Centre manager, Tuggerah. You will not only provide exceptional customer service to customers and quality care to our animals but assist in the managing and overseeing of day to day operations of the Care Centre.


Responsibilities include:

  • Recruitment, induction and training of new staff and volunteers
  • Coaching, training and development of staff
  • Providing and leading a high standard of animal wellbeing.
  • Provide expert advice to customers and members of the public on animal welfare questions and issues.
  • Lead a strong focus on retail including sale of products, grooming bookings, and stock-take
  • Work Health and safety


This is a fantastic leadership opportunity focusing on excellent customer service and animal wellbeing.   The team is responsible for providing advice and assistance regarding adoption, animal environmental enrichment and nutrition and addressing a myriad of other questions that arise from the work we do. 


To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading, mentoring and managing a small team
  • Extensive customer service experience
  • Shelter experience including behaviour assessment - advantageous
  • Retail experience - advantageous
  • Relevant qualifications in Animal Handling advantageous
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal and external customers
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Driver’s licence class C (unrestricted)
  • Ability to lift 20kg



To be successful in this role you will have a thorough understanding of the philosophy, roles and responsibilities of RSPCA NSW. You will have a “can do” attitude and the drive to think beyond traditional ways of doing things.  This position requires you to be able to work on weekends and to cover late night shopping hours.
