The RSPCA NSW - The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals NSW - is Australia's preeminent animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect.

Our Sydney Shelter is now looking for a motivated, energetic and experienced Foster Care Coordinator with a passion for animal welfare.  This exciting new position be responsible for ensuring that a range of opportunities are advertised, induction and training provided, and open lines of communication are maintained with a view to retain and increase our Foster Care network Sydney wide.


This is a 6 months fixed term full time position, with a possibility of extension and will require you to work regular weekends and some public holidays based on 7 day rotating roster.


Major responsibilities include;

  • Coordinate the recruitment, training and induction of Foster Carers
  • Coordinate the placement of animals into appropriate foster care
  • Maintain and update all records (including health and equipment provided) pertaining to foster animals
  • Ensure that adequate supply of food and equipment is available to Foster Carers
  • Provide regular reports to Shelter Manager in relation to foster animals in care
  • Relationship management with Sydney Clinic and coordination of desexing of foster animals
  • Conduct premise inspections and home assessments
  • Administer medications

To be successful in this role, candidates will possess the following skills and experience;

  • Previous animal handling skills - essential
  • Certificate III in Animal Care or equivalent demonstrated experience - advantageous
  • Microchip Implanter certification or willingness to obtain
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in Customer Service
  • Conflict Resolution skills
  • Team Player
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to lift 20kgs
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
