The RSPCA is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with hundreds of staff across NSW to care for animals.

Our Sydney Shelter is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Customer Care Consultant to join our dedicated Customer Care team on a full-time basis.  The Customer Care Consultant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, advice, and guidance to members of the public. This position will rotate across all functions of the Customer Care team, including adoptions, surrenders, lost and found, stray intake, and reporting.

The successful candidate will be required to work on a rotating roster, including weekends.

Role responsibilities:

  • Providing accurate and timely customer service and advice regarding animal care
  • Coordinate adoption process, ensuring that all required documentation is completed accurately
  • Coordinate surrender process, ensuring that all required documentation is completed accurately
  • Lodging of all cruelty complains and escalating urgent reports to Inspectorate
  • Ensure that all animals received are tagged or otherwise appropriately identified
  • Administration duties including daily banking and responding to customer enquires via phone or email
  • Cleaning of animal enclosures and administer medications when required


Selection criteria:

  • Certificate II in Animal Studies
  • Previous experience in animal handling
  • Previous experience in a customer service role
  • Prior experience working for a non-profit organisation (desirable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
